John Paul Roper Obituary

John Paul Roper, 66, of Russellville died Saturday, May 31, 2008. He was born May 8, 1942, in Paris, Arkansas and was preceded in death by his father, Wilson B. Roper; brother, Charles Roper; and a sister Martha Bibler. He was a tool and dye assembler for Ladish Company and had served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife Linda H. Roper of Russellville; mother, Nelle Birkhead Roper of Russellville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kellie and Kevin Van Es of Russellville and Karen and Jason Cook of Lonoke; one sister, Mary Helen Roper of Fayetteville; and five grandchildren, Jessie Van Es, A.J. Van Es, Lauren Papasan, Kennedy Cook, and Mitchell Cook. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Bells Chapel United Methodist Church, the Rev. Joe Kitchens officiating. Burial is at Bells Chapel Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service. Pallbearers are James David Peak, Jerry Markham, Dave Peak, Jim Peak, Kevin Van Es, Jason Cook, Barry Birkhead and Ronnie Blalack. Memorials may be made to the Bells Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Nancy Blanchard, 302 Meadow Road, Russellville, AR, 72801, or the Arkansas Cancer Research Center, 4301 W. Markham St. #623, Little Rock, AR 72205.
