John W. Bowden, 73, of Atkins, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Baptist Health in Little Rock. He was born September 17, 1938 in Atkins the son of Roy and Mabel Laywell Bowden. He was a retired private contractor who enjoyed flying his plane and traveling. Additionally, he was a skilled woodworker, and friends and family enjoyed the pieces he built and shared with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Mary Bewley; and a nephew, Eddie Bewley. He is survived by a sister, Doris Jones of Fayetteville; 2 nephews and 4 nieces. Memorial services are 2:00 PM Saturday, March 17 at Lemley Chapel. Family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 PM prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bowden Cemetery, 261 Bowden Cemetery Road, Pottsville, AR 72858.Obituary
