Johnny Nelson

Johnny Nelson, 63, of Atkins, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017, at his home. He was born September 22, 1954, in Dover, son of the late Willie and Elsie Dotson Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Melvin Nelson, Doyle Nelson, and Don Nelson; a sister, Mary Ford; and a grandson, Johnathan Turney. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lawana Nelson; 2 daughters, Linda and husband Lonnie Stark, and Samantha and husband Roger Hern; 2 sons, Tommy Nelson and wife Teresa, and Alex Nelson; grandchildren, Tyler Moss, Taylor Moss, Racheal Sefers, Jacob Nelson, Ashley Proctor, Cody Turney, and Katelynn Stark; great-grandson, Carter Wayne Nelson; 4 sisters, Ora Mae and husband Donald Cross, Lucille Pruitt, Violet and husband Don Harris, and Freda and husband Wayne Robertson; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 13, at Lemley Chapel, with Rev. C.W. Henderson and Rev. Darwin Barnhouse officiating. Burial is in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Lemley Chapel. Pallbearers are Jacob Nelson, Alex Nelson, Tyler Moss, Taylor Moss, Cody Turney, and Lonnie Stark. Honorary pallbearers are Corey Johnson and Nathan Proctor.
