Loyon Langford

Loyon Murel Langford, 88, of Hector, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Atkins Nursing and Care Center. He was born March 29, 1927, in Hector, son of the late Jess and Martha Freeman Langford. He was a farmer from the time he could reach the plow handles, and was an industrious young man who grew and sold tobacco for spending money before later running the Hector movie theater. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion, a former board member of Campground Cemetery, and a member of the Web Clinic of Hector committee. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; sister, Geleta Robertson; brother-in-law, George Whistance; and a nephew, Gerald Whistance. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Langford; 3 sons, Dennis Langford, Ricky Langford and wife Colene, and Roger Langford and wife Lea; daughter, Juanita and husband Carl Sigler; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Julia Ferguson and Bernyce Whistance. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 16, at Lemley Chapel. Burial is in Campground Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at Lemley Chapel. Pallbearers are Dennis Langford, Ricky Langford, Roger Langford, Lynn Snider, Carl Sigler and Frank Gray.
