Obituary
Merle Lyndes Lemley of Russellville died September 27, 2007 at the age 91. She was born in Hysham, Montana to Mary Alice Mercer and John Curtis Lyndes. She was a graduate of Helena High School (Montana) and attended the University of Washington in Seattle. She served as Assistant Field Director for the Red Cross in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. She moved to Russellville, Arkansas in 1947 and married J. Merle Lemley. She served as a Hospice volunteer, a board member of Marva, a school mentor, and an active member of Central Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J. Merle Lemley and four siblings. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Jo Luck of Little Rock and grandchildren Mark Wilson of Little Rock and Beth and Paul Gray of Russellville. Her great-grandchildren were Jenny, Zach and Ariston Gray, all of Russellville. Her family wishes to thank her caregivers, Mary Jo Franklin, Marie and John Needham, and the angels of Arkansas Department of Health Hospice, especially Tiffany Miller. A private burial was held Friday, September 28, at Rest Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Kalvesmaki officiating, and arrangements under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service.
