Muriel F. Goodwin Obituary

Muriel F. Goodwin, 88, of Atkins, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Atkins Nursing Center. She was born February 15, 1923 in McAlester, Oklahoma, the daughter of Eli and Ola Bell Fox Curtis. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the VFW Auxiliary, and the First Baptist Church of Atkins. She was a retired sales clerk and an artist. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Woodrow Curtis, three sisters, Rosa Sims, Frankie Watkins and Pearl Bailey; a son, Carl Martin; two grandsons, Ray “Bucky” Lynch and Jimmy Cherry, Jr.; granddaughter-in-law, Dana Cherry; and a great-granddaughter Emmy Cherry. She is survived by her husband, Doyle Goodwin of Atkins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nadine Lynch and Rocky Serra and Kay and Jimmy Cherry, all of Russellville; stepdaughter, Ellen and Randy Underwood of Gentry; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Marcy Martin of Boulder, Montana, and Sharon and Bill Crawley of Decaturville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kathleen Lynch, Richard Martin, Randy Martin, Rhonda Maker, Janelle Martin, Charles Martin, Patricia Mills, Jennifer Taylor, Shannon Ryne, and Ashley Calderon; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Buriel Curtis of Florida. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 22 at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Robert Woody officiating. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery by Lemley Funeral of Atkins. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday. Pallbearers are Jimmy Cherry, Odis Grimes, Charles Martin, Randy Martin, Bo Mills and Mervin Goodrum. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Simmons and Doug Taylor.
