Nelson Polk

Nelson Polk, Jr., 63, of Hector, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at his home. He was born April 29, 1952, in Stratford, California, son of the late Nelse and Norma Bewley Polk. He was a simple man of few words, and loved the outdoors whether it was hunting , sitting by a pond fishing, or relaxing under a shade tree listening to his radio. He also loved competing with his wife gardening: he finally won, because his garden is beautiful. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Polk; son and daughter-in-law, Waylon Cavinder and wife Alisha of Nixa, MO; daughter, Mandy Cavinder of the home; two sisters, Carolyn Jewel of Dardanelle, and Sharon Ivey of Dover; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. Graveside services conducted by family and friends will be 11:00 AM, Friday, June 12, at Oakland Cemetery with Waylon Cavinder and Owen Jones officiating, under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Lemley Chapel. Pallbearers are Scotty Ivey, Jason Day, Danny Pinion, Don Reid, Mike Black, Eddie Martin, Jimmy Hill and Owen Jones. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Kelsie Urchison, RN, with Arkansas Hospice and to the staff of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for all the love and support they have given.
