Odie O. Bower, 100, of Atkins passed away Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 23, 1908, in Marshall, Arkansas, the son of the late William and Stosha Bower. He was a loving devoted husband to his wife Lucy for 73 years. He loved his family more than life itself. He was retired from the lumber industry where he owned and operated his own sawmill. He was a lifelong member of the Atkins First Assembly of God Church and was a US Army Veteran. Mr Bower was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Oneal Bower, a son, Robert Dale Bower, his parents, two brothers, Emmett and Donald Bower, and two sisters, Lois Robinson and Mae Bower. Mr. Bower is survived by his daughter Bobbye Bower Sims, son-in-law, Jimmy Sims, grandson and wife, Todd and Heidi Sims, three great-grandsons, Colby, Tanner and Grayson all of Russellville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 10:00a.m. at Lemley Chapel, officiated by Rev. Terrell Bishop, Rev. Kieth Underhill and Dr. Mike Hendren. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, burial will be in Atkins City Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Charles Smith, Jimmy White, Mike Briscoe, Cody Mann, Keith Underhill and Burl Clowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Colby, Tanner and Grayson Sims, Kenneth Bower, Robert Rainey, Rex Chambers, Dr. Mike Hendren and employees and staff of the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
