Odie Goines, 89, of Atkins, died Friday, October 10, 2008, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He was born April 4, 1919, in Midland, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Wilburn Goines and Columbia Goines Clark and retired as a heavy equipment operator and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen D. Goines, 3 brothers, Fay , Arbuary and Otto Goines and 2 sisters, Lillian Pearce and Sylvia Wooley. He was a member of CC Camp and attended Atkins First Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Paula Goines of Atkins, daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Van Short of Atkins, 2 granddaughters and spouse, Terry and Brian James of Maumelle, Kimberly Nelson of Alexander, 3 great grandsons, Tyler James , John David Nelson and Jake Nelson, sister, Violet Younger of Atkins. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 13, 2008, at Atkins First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Atkins City Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Chapel. Visitation is 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday. Pallbearers will be Tim Younger, Raymond Pearce, Rayburn Pearce, Mike Staggs, Jim Staggs, Duard Pearce. Honorary Pallbearer: Vernon Younger.
