Opie Dale Mallett, 82, of Atkins, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, at his home. He was born May 12, 1935, in Kenwood, son of the late Opie Mallett and Willard D. Bizzell Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Bradley Dale Klober; brother, Bobby Cooper; step-father, A.L. Cooper; and step-mother, Audrey Mallett. He is survived by Georgia Maxine Mallett; 2 daughters, Evelyn and husband Phil Klober of Pleasant View, Tennessee, and DeLena Mallett Wright of Russellville; grandchildren, Amy Klober Singleton and husband Jamie Singleton; Megan Mallett Wright and fiancée Jeffery Roberds, and Madison Mallett Wright; great-grandchildren, Carter Singleton, Caroline Singleton, and Kate Singleton; 2 brothers, Gary Mallett and Ron Mallett; and 2 sisters, Jean Tedrow and Jane Lunberg. Funeral services are 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 7, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial is in St. Joe Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Lemley Chapel. Pallbearers are Lynn Embry, Earl Ray Boren, Carter Singleton, Jimmy Kirby, Jeremy Epperson, and David Harelson. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Drake and James Dillon. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Amy Byrd and the nurses and staff of Hospice Alive.
