Opla Dean Hartwick, 90, of Atkins, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020, at her home. She was born May 30, 1930, in Atkins, daughter of the late George W. Simmons, Sr., and Vella Kathryn Duvall Simmons. She was the owner and operator of the Broadway Café. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loil Ralph Hartwick; 3 sisters, Ollie Jean Lewallen, Shirley Fraser, and Burnell Cross; half-brother and sister, George Simmons, Jr., and Nola Simmons; and granddaughter, Traci M. Locke. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lee; son, Terry Hartwick and wife Karen; 2 grandchildren, Terence Hartwick and Jeff Hartwick; 2 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Junior Simmons and J.M. Simmons; and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 29, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. C.W. Henderson officiating under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery.
