Pete Engle, 77, of Harrisburg, died Saturday, September 8, 2007, in Jonesboro. Born January 26, 1930 in Lepanto, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Jess and Rosie Walker Engle. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Pete Engle, Jr. and Johnny Engle. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Scercy Engle of Harrisburg; four sons & daughters-in-law, Michael and Samantha Bates of Hector, Charles and Jo Engle of Perryville, Johnny and Donna Bates of Little Rock, Jimmy and Hazel Bates of Harrisburg; five daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and James Freeman of Russellville, Wilma and Terry Thacker of Hector, Mary and Scotty Malone of Red Bay, Alabama, Evelyn and Chris Pittman of Jacksonville, Donna and Kenneth Darter of Hector; one sister, Frances Hudson of St. Charles, AR, 27 grandchildren. 33 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Thacker officiating. Burial will be in Tate Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Thacker, Kenneth Armesteadt, Jimmy Bates, Scott Scercy, Corey Hedrick, Justin Engle, David Scercy, Mark Bates and Johnny Bates.
