Raymond Stubbs, 86, of Atkins died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Atkins Nursing Center. Born January 5, 1923, in Yell County, AR, he was the son of the late Carl Andrew and Dora Vann Stubbs. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy Gene Stubbs, Earl Stubbs, Pete Stubbs, Hollis Stubbs, and three sisters, Ruby Eakes, Elma Sue Eakes and Mable Hegeman. He is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Benny Stubbs of Plumerville, Tommy and Shelly Stubbs of Conway; a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Sammy Childress of Atkins; 4 sisters, Evelyn Bauman and Carlene Austin both of Atkins, Helen Haney Winton of Springdale, Mary Lollis of Morrilton; 7 grandchildren, Sammy Childress, Jr., Terry Childress, Alan Stubbs, Larry Stubbs, Laurie Stubbs, Beth Stubbs, Clay Stubbs; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Atkins City Cemetery.
