Retha Evelyn Burris Travis Obituary

Retha Evelyn Burris Travis, 95, of Bentonville, Arkansas, and formerly of Atkins and Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015. She was born October 18, 1920, in Hector, daughter of the late William and Bertha Hickman Patterson.
She was married to William R. Burris (Bill) for 43 years and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her second husband of one year, Dolan Travis of Atkins.
Survivors include her children, Paul D. and Glenda Burris of Bella Vista, Rick and Kathie Burris of Maumelle, and Jana and Steve Ferguson of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Paula Ferguson Pala, Dave Burris, Gannon Ferguson Bradley and Jessica Burris Smith; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Pala, Penny Bradley, Jonah Smith, Will Burris and Elliette Burris; and several nieces and nephews as well as greats, including nieces Delena Greaser and Marilyn Duvall whom Retha helped to raise.
Retha and Bill owned and operated Burris Grocery in west Little Rock for a number of years. She loved her family and was greatly loved by them. She was active in her church life and was an avid fan of the Razorbacks and Baltimore Orioles. Retha was the first female to be selected to the High School Basketball All-State Team from Atkins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 17, at Lemley Chapel with burial to follow in St. Joe Cemetery north of Atkins.
