Ruthie Blackwell, 87, of Appleton, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, January 20, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was born May 8, 1925, on Cato Mountain near Jerusalem, Arkansas, the daughter of Alvin and Flora Mae Freeman Rainwater. She married Hobert Blackwell in 1938 and had 3 precious children, she loved to sew her quilts and knit hats, she was a member of Evans Mountain Full Gospel Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hobert Blackwell, son, William Everett Blackwell, Sr., sister, Dorothy Rainwater, brothers, Pete and Raymond Rainwater and a great great grandson, Chris Jenkins, Jr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Melinda Blackwell , daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Joe Barefield all of Appleton; 6 sisters, Betty Garner of Tiller, Gladys Garner and husband, Bobby of McGehee, Loreda Kindall and husband, William of Pine Bluff, Emmie Varnell and husband, Gene of Stigler, OK, Lillian Fleetwood of Rison, Olean Delaney and husband, Don of Tasagould, MS, 5 grandchildren, Alvin Barefield, Junior Blackwell, Louise Cothren, Aneva Green and Milinda Jenkins, 11 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 23, at Evans Mountain Full Gospel Church with Rev. Darwin Barnhouse and Junior Roberts officiating. Burial is at Cedar Creek Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lemley Chapel. Pallbearers are Jack Wilcox, Keith Melton, Gene Forester, Jimmy Don Dotson.
