Theodore (Ted) Sweeden

Theodore “Ted” Donald Sweeden, 89, of Atkins passed away Friday, October 9, 2009, at his home. He was born October 31, 1919, in Atkins the son of Marshal and Hester Dixon Sweeden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Foster Sweeden; grandson, Terry Alan Sweeden; sister, Betty and brothers, Raymond (Bud), Bill and Jim. Ted was a World War II Veteran, member of the Atkins Riding Club and the Atkins First Baptist Church. He worked for John Deere for 32 years and was retired from the Arkansas Youth Services of Benton. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Theodore (Teddy) and Glenda Sweeden of Springdale; two daughters and son-in-laws, Brenda and Jim Caldwell of Atkins, Regina and Larry Dobbins of Atkins; a brother, Emmet (Britch) Sweeden of Greenville, MS; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday at Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Chronister officiating. Burial will be in Childers Cemetery by Lemley Funeral service. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday. Pallbearers are Bill Hicks, Bobby Pitts, Tony Sweeden, Preston Sweeden, Steve Riley, Jimmy Dale Ennis and Tim Sweeden. Memorials can be made to Sweet Home Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, POB 141, Atkins, AR 72823.
