Thomas (Tommy) Earl Young, 72, left his earthly home on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 after winning his battle with cancer. Tom was born in Little Rock to the late Albert and Nancy Young, on February 7th, 1947. He graduated from Atkins High School in 1965, enrolled in the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served on the U.S.S. Bennington in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968. After being discharged from the service he worked at Firestone Rubber and Tire before beginning a 28 year career with Entergy at Arkansas Nuclear One where he worked in the electrical shop. He married the light of his life, Sherry Millard Young on July 29th, 1988. Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherry of Atkins, his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Suzy Young of Russellville, his brother-in-law and wife, Mike and Lisa Millard and their children Jordan and MyKayla, and brother-in-law and wife, Phillip and Amanda Millard, and his grandchildren, Sydney and Sophie Young, Karli Haley, Jake Mars and Kamryn Mars. He is also survived by several cousins, a niece, Sarah Margaret Stroud, a nephew and his wife, John and Nancy Duvall, his former deer hunting buddies and the morning coffee crew at G and G Auto Parts in Russellville. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rife (Pop) and Margaret (Boppoo) Hughey, his parents, Albert and Nancy Young and his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Finis Duvall. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 30th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lemley’s Funeral Home with a private family service taking place prior to the visitation with the Reverend Jay Ham presiding.
