Velma Hern, 88, of Atkins, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was born October 19, 1928, in Trumann, daughter of the late Willis Southall and Velva Craig Russ. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Hern, Sr.; 2 daughters, Rita Hardwick and Annette Millikin; brother, Richard Southall; and 2 sisters, Ruby Angelberg and Shirley Waddle. She is survived by 4 sons, John Hern, Ted Hern, Roger Hern, and Jimmy Hern; 2 daughters, Sharon Hern Morganthall, and Loretta Hern Hinkston; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Eugene Southall, Kenneth Southall, Gene Waddle, and Doyle Waddle; sister, Patsy Waddle Wormington; sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and numerous family and friends. Funeral services are 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Ted Hern officiating. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery north of Atkins under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Lemley Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Judy Murphy, Pope County Memorial Chair, 126 Lakeview Circle, Russellville, Arkansas 72802, or to Oakland Cemetery, P.O.
