Virginia Ruth (Teeter) Horne, 87, joined her family and friends in heaven on August 7, 2010. Born on September 4, 1922 in Crow Mountain, Arkansas, Mrs. Horne attended Mars Hill Elementary and Pottsville High School. She was married in 1942 and moved to the Kansas City area in 1952. She and her family lived in this area until her move to Longview, Texas in 2009. She is most remembered for her personal characteristics of honesty, patience, generosity and caring. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking and working in her home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edward George Horne, her parents TN and Girthel Teeter, Sr., two brothers James Lee and TN Teeter, Jr., and a sister-in-law Ima Jane Teeter. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Spangler and Jan Bayer, a son-in-law Bob Spangler, a grandson Israel Edward Bayer, a sister and brother-in-law, Billy and Jane McAnulty, a sister-in-law Frances Teeter, an uncle Ben Teeter, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pauline and Carl Reed. She also leaves behind an amazing group of family and friends. During her illness, their support and caring was greatly appreciated. Gravesite Services will be held at Bowden Cemetery, Tuesday, August 10 at 2:00 p.m. Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins, Arkansas, will be handling the services. Donations may be given to the Cancer Society.
