Wayne Embers, 90, of Atkins, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Atkins Nursing Center. He was born January 8, 1922, in McPherson County, Kansas, the son of Nathan Rufus and Victorilla VanEss Embers. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a Navy veteran, and served in the Pacific during World War II. He loved a good practical joke. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Gail Embers; 1 grandson, Nathan Clevenger; 1 sister and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rose Embers; 5 sons, Larry and Bonnie Embers and Galen and Jamie Embers all of McPherson, KS, Danny and Angie Embers of Comanche, IA, Stephen Embers of Pratt, KS and Randy and Virginia Embers of Bakersfield, CA; 3 daughters, Vicky and Stan Heaton of Atkins, Sharon and Jerry Bain of Rogers and Carol and Bill Clevenger of Colorado Springs, CO; 1 sister, Edna Bruce; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Private family burial will be held at a later date in McPherson, KS. Cremation arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2405 East Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, Arkansas 72802.
