Willard Gene Hoover, 87, of Dover, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He was born in Berryville on January 10, 1924, the son of John Baker and Cliffe Cleo Howerton Hoover. He was a World War II Navy veteran and 70 year member of VFW Rogers-Rye Post 2283. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Woodall. He is survived by his wife, Margie Hoover of Dover; a son, Willard G. Hoover, Jr., of Dover; a daughter, Margie Duncan of London; four grandchildren, Rodney Bridgman of Dover, Dawn Haught of London, John Philpot of London, and Janet Beavers of Lamar; 11 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and a brother; J.B. Hoover of Corpus Christi, Texas. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 26 at Round Rock Church in Dover with the Rev. Chuck Heflin officiating. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
