Winfred Elmer Thorburn, 88, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at his home. He was born February 7, 1929, in Nevada, Missouri, son of the late James Walton and Lula Bell Vincent Thorburn. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Vincent, the Atkins Church of the Assumption, and St. John’s Church in Russellville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy Thorburn; and a brother, Archie Leroy Thorburn. He is survived by his wife, Mary Thorburn; 2 sons, Gene Thorburn and Bobby Lee Thorburn both of Augusta, Kansas; 2 daughters, Lois Goodwin of Holton, Kansas, and Janet Hartley of Wichita, Kansas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral mass is 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, at St. Mary’s Church at St. Vincent with Father James Burnie officiating. Rosary is at 12:45 PM prior to services. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, at Lemley Chapel in Atkins.
