Donnie Ray Smith, 93, of Arkoma, Oklahoma went to be with the lord on Monday, March 26, 2018 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born in Choctaw, Oklahoma. He was a supervisor at Riverside Furniture retiring after 37 years and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Donnie was well known as “the tomato man” in Arkoma. He loved the outdoors in addition to his gardening he enjoyed fishing and hunting but above everything he loved his family. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Aline, his son, Tommy Smith, his mother Clemmie Julian Smith, a son in law, Dudley “Duck” Martin, five sisters, Deanie Stroud, Geniva Bradshaw, Shirley Bourbon, Edith Smith and Marie Roberts, three brothers, R.C. Smith, Wilton Smith and Delbert Smith. Survivors are, his son, Vernon Smith and his wife Susan of Sallisaw, OK; two daughters, Margrete Martin of Wister, OK and Kathleen Ridenour and her husband, Clayton of Spiro, OK; a daughter in law, Dottie Smith of Arkoma, OK, two sisters, Wilma Jean Robinson of Bakersfield, CA and Jo Anne Tubbs of Lake Isabel, CA; eleven grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and seven great- great grandchildren. Funeral services are 10:00AM, Friday, March 30, 2018 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will visit with friends from 5:30-8:00PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to First Baptist Church of Arkoma Youth Program, 200 Sicard Arkoma, OK 74901.
