Dorothy Juanita Robertson Fort Smith, Arkansas Obituary

Dorothy Juanita Robertson

Dorothy Juanita Robertson, 86, of Pocola, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 in her home. She was born on November 12, 1930 to Joe C. and Beulah Ann (Hughes) Prescott in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Juanita came to Christ at the age of fourteen and lived a life serving Him. After graduating from Northside High School in May of 1948, she married Bill Robertson on December 31, 1949. Following the birth of her four children, Juanita was employed as an administrative assistant for twenty years at Cavanaugh Missionary Baptist Church where she also played the piano. Following her retirement, Juanita continued to be a devoted daughter and cared for both her ailing parents and in-laws until their passing. Juanita also cared for her many grandchildren and managed her rental company. Bill and Juanita were married for 67 years and were very involved in ministry at their church as well as orphan care through the Texarkana Children’s Home. Their home was often open to visiting missionaries that they sponsored. Juanita had not only the heart of a servant but also a spirit of adventure. While attempting to earn her pilot’s license on a solo flight, the plane’s engine died and Juanita successfully landed the plane along the shore of the Arkansas River. Quite a feat, the news stations even covered her eventful crash landing. Juanita was a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Zora Mae Roberts, Harold and Jim Prescott and Melba Watkins. Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Monday, July 3, 2017 at Haven Heights Baptist Church with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She is survived by her husband Bill of the home; two daughters, Susie White and her husband Dick of Greenwood, Arkansas and Patti Burnetti and her husband Dean of Auburndale, Florida; two sons, Mike Robertson and his wife Lea of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Ben J. Robertson and his wife Debbie of Pocola, Oklahoma; two sisters, Jo Ann Owens and Lou Ellen Henry both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 2-4PM on Sunday, July 2nd at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Michael White, David Owens, Terry Watkins, Nathan and Brian Rank, Aaron Brown and Joshua Gough. The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels and Peachtree Hospice for taking care of our mother during this difficult time.
