Agnes Childers

Pauline Childers, a resident of Wynne, Arkansas, departed this life, Thursday, April 2, 2009, at her residence, at the age of ninety-two. She was born, February 17, 1917, in Vanndale, Arkansas, the daughter of James Alexander “Boss” and Leona Scott Banton. She married Mr. Robert Veto Childers on October 27, 1932, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas. Mrs. Childers, as a child, was member of the Vanndale Baptist Church. After marrying Robert Childers, she was a member of Sharp's Chapel Church of God, the Rochelle Church of God and Mission Center Church in Illinois, in which Mr. Childers founded. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking, fishing, playing her French harp, playing mexican dominoes and always said she was “born dancing”. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Robert Childers in 1979 and Cecil Williams in 1998, two sons: Dewey Childers and Joe Childers, one daughter: Barbara “Bobbie” Childers Canter, four brothers: Forrest Banton, Shelton “Shep” Banton, Ben “Bud” Banton and Ray Banton, two sisters: Gladys Banton and Vera Miller and a granddaughter: Connie Haney. Pauline is survived by: two sons: Giles Childers and wife Sherri of Mesa, Arizona, Don Childers and wife Pam of Wynne, Arkansas, one daughter: Betty Holt and husband Jerry of Brookport, Illinois, one daughter-in-law: Ruby Childers Smith, 15 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren, 12 step-Great-Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Family request memorials be made to the Akin Cemetery Fund, C/O of Ben Durham, 700 CR 354, Cherry Valley, AR. 72324 or to the Area IX Hospice Unit, 704 Canal, Wynne, AR. 72396.
