Glendon “Buck” Purdy, 92, of McGehee, Arkansas passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019. Buck was born on January 18, 1927 in Dewitt, Arkansas to the late Jessie Cyrus and Dora Mavie Rhodes Purdy. Buck was a WWII Veteran. He formerly lived in Dewitt, AR and moved to McGehee 65 years ago. He liked to fish and duck hunt. Buck loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in McGehee, AR, where he served as a deacon for over 50 years. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean McGahhey Purdy. Survivors include his son, Donnie Ray (Susie) Purdy of McGehee, AR; daughters, Glenda (Ricky) Terry of McGehee, AR and Nancy (James) Singleton of Hope, AR; special companion, Shirley Watts of McGehee, AR; grandchildren, Kristy Groves, Holly Terry, Casey Singleton, Ricky “Bubba” Terry and Lacey Jo Singleton; great-grandchildren, Wesley Groves, Courtney Groves, Paislee Singleton and Lakyn Singleton. Visitation will be held at 9:00-10:00 am Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church in McGehee, AR. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 am at the church with Rev. Arlis East officiating. Burial will be at McArthur Cemetery in McArthur, AR. Pallbearers will be James Singleton, Wesley Groves, Casey Singleton, Jason Groves, Dustin Day and Stephen Day. Honorary pallbearers will be Owen Houston, Kevin Watts, Gaylen Gilbert, Jim Davis, Joe Owens and Mark Day.
