Robert E. Vincent

Robert “Bobby” E. Vincent, Jr., 90, long time McGehee resident died Monday, August 31, 2015 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Bobby was born October 6, 1924 in Monroe, Louisiana. His parents were Robert E. Vincent, Sr. and Flora May (Henry) Vincent. Bobby enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and served in the Pacific aboard the USS Curtiss during WWII. After returning stateside, he met and fell in love with June Dixon of McGehee. The two were married October 19, 1948 and were together for 62 years until her death in 2010. Bobby was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad for many years. He is survived by his eldest son, Robert E. Vincent, III and wife, Marilyn, of Shawnee, OK, their daughters and sons-in-law, Nan and Ben McSpadden and Le and Tyler Thornton. He is also survived by his youngest son, John B. Vincent and wife, Nancy, of Tomball, TX, and their sons, Jonathan and Cameron Vincent; and nine great- grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11 am Friday, September 4, 2015 at McGehee Cemetery in McGehee, AR with Rev. Joe Head officiating.
