Mr. Eddie Smart of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the age of 79. He was born February 15, 1936 in Jacksonport, the son of Ed and Cora (Prager) Smart.

Mr. Smart farmed in Jackson County many years, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lucille (Carlisle) Tims Smart; two sons, Everett Smart and Eddie Smart; three sisters, Damel Davis, Emogene Chambliss, and Mary Lou Gates; paternal grandparents, Jim and Cara Smart; and his parents.

Mr. Smart is survived by two sons, George Smart of Newport and Dewayne Smart of Tuckerman; one brother, J.D. Smart of Jacksonport; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Coffeyville Cemetery.
