Eulice Calhoun

Mr. Eulice E. Calhoun of Newport, formerly of Swifton, departed this life on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the age of 84. He was born March 18, 1933 in Swifton, the son of Mack Donald and Rosie Evanna (Adams) Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun left school early, because they had recess, and he didn’t have time to play around! He went on to marry Miss Pauline Kinder on September 26, 1961, and together they spent 55 years. Mr. Calhoun was a United States Army veteran, spending two years in Germany. He was a contractor many years, and enjoyed woodworking and building. He was an excellent singer and guitar player, traveling through Arkansas, Tennessee, and Missouri, with family and friends singing at various events. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by his son, Perry Keith Calhoun; one granddaughter, Crystal Birmingham; two brothers, Edward Smith and Bill Calhoun; three sisters, Verlie Oray, Pat Ford, and Geneva Moore; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; three daughters, Pamela Keller and husband, Bobby, of Tuckerman, Penny Birmingham and husband, Steve, of Strawberry, and Robin Calhoun of Jonesboro; an honorary son, Dewayne Nelson; three brothers, Rev. Denny Calhoun, Donald Wayne Calhoun, and Arnie Calhoun, all of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Eric Keller and wife, Faustina, Keith Keller and wife, Becca, Shannon Smith and wife, Mary Ann, Haley Pfeffer and husband, Dustin, and Sadye, Calhoun; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Community Church with interment in Dowell’s Chapel Cemetery.
