Jerry Person

Mr. Jerry Person, of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2013, in Jonesboro at the age of 64. He was born September 13, 1948, in Tuckerman, the son of Joseph Neal and Mary Emma (Allison) Person. He married Miss Brenda Kay Brown on December 23, 1972. Mr. Person was known as a man who worked hard to care for his family. He worked as a machine operator at the Ever Corporation for over thirty years and spent several years farming with Mr. Bob Penix. Mr. Person loved to be outdoors and he enjoyed barbequing, gardening, working in his yard, fishing, and detailing and washing cars. He was an avid fan of Razorback and Red Wolf football and basketball. Mr. Person will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his humor, and the smile that was always present on his face. He was a loyal friend, and a devoted and loving family man. Mr. Person was a member of God’s House of Prayer in Newport. Mr. Person was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Glen Person and Wayne Person; and one sister, Norma Jean Dicus. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Kay (Brown) Person of the home; one son, Ken Brown and wife, Audrey, of Jonesboro; two daughters, Rozelyn Brown Lee and husband, Nadair, of Newport and Krystal Person of Tuckerman; and four granddaughters, who were his pride and joy, Najwa Lee, Deria Ratliffe, Kennedy Williams, and Kyndall King. Also surviving Mr. Person are two brothers, Joseph Person and Jeffery Person, both of Tuckerman; three sisters, Barbara Person Wright of Tuckerman, Cheryl Person of Tuckerman, and Lucy Person Perry and husband, James, of Garland, Texas; two special sisters-in-law, Bobbie Person of Willingsboro, New Jersey and Patricia Sampson of Flint, MI; many nieces, nephews, and cousins and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday evening, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at God’s House of Prayer in Newport with Pastor Thurman Walker officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery at Tuckerman. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Maurice Watson, Kevin Robinson, Marcus Brown, Paul Person, Graylon Person, and Derrick Ratliffe. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Penix, Nadair Lee, Jeffery Person, Clint Murphy, Ricky “Boomer” Turner and Chester Coburn, Jr.
