W.J. Mabry Obituary

Mr. W.J. Mabry, 70, of Newport died Monday, August 26, 2013. He was born January 12, 1943 in Grubbs, the son of King James and Ruth Ann (Block) Mabry. Mr. Mabry was a splicer for Verizon Telephone, and a member of the Ballew’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a 32° Mason, and a United States Air Force veteran. Mr. Mabry enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, traveling the country, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Edward Mabry; and three sisters, Lecritia Hodge, Betty Sherley, and Annie Breeden Mr. Mabry is survived by his wife, Paula (Huskey) Mabry of the home; four sons, J.D. Mabry of Newport, Ricky Throne and wife Sandy of Palestine, Arkansas, Steve Thorne and wife Darla of Sebring, Florida, and Brian Thorne and wife Sonia of Aubrey, Arkansas; two daughters, Beverly Renea Rogers and husband Rocky of Thayer, Missouri, and Terry Astin and husband Joey of Forrest City; one sister, Lorice Sims of Springfield; grandchildren, Dawn, Caitlyn, David, Jessica, Jennifer,Tiffanie, Lindsey, Ricky, Jr., Nicole, Claudia, Stephanie, Drew, Katherine, Jamie, Brittany, and Brian, Jr.; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are James Mabry, Perry Mabry, Steven Lucas, Casey Coles, Jeff Bagwell, Jimmy McElyea, Joey Astin, Ricky Thorne, and Brian Thorne.
