Retired Sacramento County Fire Chief and Army http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/army/?personid=187144703andaffiliateID=106 veteran, James "Jim" E. Emerson, passed away on November 1st, 2017. Jim was borne September 27, 1940 in Nashville TN. Jim had a long distinguished Army career, reaching the rank of Command Sergeant Major (CSM). His last official assignment was at Presido Army Base in San Francisco as the Post CSM, the highest ranking enlisted position. He completed two tours of service in Vietnam and relocated all over the world as he served our country honorably. Airborne!!! When he retired from the Army, he spent a few years in the Aerospace industry working for Rockwell International. He finally moved back home (Courtland, CA) in 1987. In 1988 he joined the Citrus Heights Fire Department, working there until 2000, retiring as Sacramento County Fire Chief. Jim moved to California in 1949, growing up in Courtland CA area where he met and later married his wife of 54 years Glenda Faye Emerson. He has two sons Frank (Anna) and James (Heidi) Emerson, 5 grandchildren Jennifer (Kevin), Frank (Neda), James (Alexandra), James, Jacob and 4.5 great grand-children. His funeral service will be held on November 8th at 9:30am at the Herberger Family Elk Grove Funeral Chapel in Elk Grove CA. There will be a public viewing on November 7th between the hours of 12pm to 5pm at the same location. Burial will be at the Franklin Cemetery.
