Ripani, Joseph Anthony BornBronx, New York, came to California in 1956.Survived by his wife Thelma Ripani, daughter Carol Ann Ripani, son Joseph Jr. and his wife, son Gary and daughter-in-law Maria Carolyn. Grand kids Chris and Julie Ann Villavert, Chris Nakamura and Jamila Tumbokon and 5 Great grand kids. 6/19/1943 Military Career, Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class (T) SV6 USNR, Bronx,New York. Pilot - Radar Instructor and Airborne Gunnery Instructor served WWII as a Navy Flier (lt. Senior Grade), a volunteer in the highly specialized fast-strike aircraft carrier group flying dive bombers. The prime function of thi group was to combat the Japanese "Kamikaza" campaign. He was in the top 10 percent of all classes and was indoctrinated as an instructor in fighter facts and fallacies. Holds a letter of commendation from Admiral Forrestal for service to the Navy. Personal life 1956 - 1966 President and Managing Director of CDSS Department Store at 3200 Arden Way, Sacramento. Managing Director of Consumers Buying Service. Joseph was notified on 4/17/1959 awarded by the Italian Historical Society of America, Casa Italiani, Columbia University, New York. Attended a Testimonial Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria, Park Avenue,New York on November 2, 1959. In his Early years he attended Columbia and New York Universities, majoring in marketing and business administration. He also took special courses in business and corporate law at McGeorge School of Law and in real estate at Sac State College.Joseph enjoyed art directing, making birdhouses, fishing, gardening and reading in his spare time. We would like to thank Masther AFB Hospital staff, VA health care: home-base care nurse Jackie and staff, Veterans Affair Medical Center in the city of Martinez CREC?CLC Hospice Tahoe Unit, Summerset Senior/Assisted Living, Saint Joseph Parish Elk Grove Rev. Fr. Victor Gutierez, Sacramento Valley National Cemetery and Maria Luz Taylor for the 9 days Rosary and prayers. Neighbors Mr.and Mrs. Dr. Soheil Payvandi and family, Charlie Daloney and family for watching over him. Friends of Dad: Gerry Kagen, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Humble and family, Vigliotti family and Paul and Linda Cordero and Cordero family. Some people didn't understand his New Yorker sense of humor, he spoke highly of his neighbors and friends. Most of all we cannot forget the NUNS in New York foster home who helped raise Joseph and sister Mary, Now Joseph is joined with his BFF Arnold Vigliotti.
