Stanley Hagstrom

Stanley Hagstrom was born February 4, 1927, In Stockton, California. His parents, David and Anna Hagstrom, emigrated from Sweden in the early 1900's and raised him on a small farm near Manteca, California. In 1938 Stan's father died and two years later, his mother also passed away. While living with his sister, he spent the next four years attending local school, graduating from Manteca Union High School in 1944. Following his graduation. he worked at the local US Army Supply Depot until March 12, 1945, when he was inducted into the US Army. Following his training, he spent the next year in the US occupation forces in Japan. Prior to his departure to Japan, he married Jeanne Logan on August 12, 1945, at first the Brethren Church where they both attended in their youth. Jeanne and Stan were married fifty-one years. After his discharge from the Army in October 1946, he returned to the Army Supply Depot where he had previously been employed. He also worked for the Stockton State Hospital, Agnew State Hospital in San Jose. He completed his career with the State of California as Business Manager for the Department of the Youth Authority, Northern Reception Center in Sacramento. Following his retirement from state service, he served as part time Business Manager for Elk Grove First Baptist Church then later served as he Director of Senior Adult Ministry. He retired from his work at First Baptist Church on June 30,2000 On august 30,1988, he married Joan Swanson. They were married almost twenty years. Stan Hagstrom is survived by his daughters Sandy (Mike) and Diane (Guy), daughter-in-law Georgia, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Stan was preceded in death by his first wife Jeanne, his second wife Joan, his son David and two grandchildren: Joshua and Sara. There will be a memorial service at Creekside Christian Church of Elk Grove, California on September 14, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Any gifts of remembrances may be made to Creek side Christian Church of Elk Grove.
