Mary Lee Savage

Mary Lee Brown was born February 16, 1943 to Girtha Mae Ewing and John Willie Brown in Marion, Arkansas. She was the first-born daughter of Girtha's five children and the first born of John's eight children.<br/><br/>She accepted the lord Jesus Christ into her heart at an early age.<br/><br/>At the age of 16, she met Willie D. Savage, her future husband in West Memphis, Arkansas and they were married shortly after on November 7, 1959 and remained married until 2002.<br/><br/>Together they moved from Arkansas to California in search of better opportunities for their family in 1964 and settled in Los Angeles, CA. The family moved to West Covina, CA in 1969 then later in 1974 moved to Diamond Bar, CA where Mary continued to raise her family. She was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters.<br/><br/>When she came to California, Mary pursed the profession of nursing. In the ever-changing medical field, Mary valued education and was a shining example of this to her family. She obtained her LVN License in 1971 and further continued her education to become a Registered nurse and obtained an Associate's Degree in December of 1981. She subsequently obtained her Teaching Credentials in 1983 and Medical Insurance Billing in 1987. She spent most of her career as a Director of Nursing from 1982 to 2016. Mary was well known for the accomplishment of bringing hospital facilities up to code. <br/><br/>Mary had a very strong work ethic and loved taking care of her children. She enjoyed reading and traveling when the opportunity presented itself. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her children and grandchildren.<br/><br/>On Monday October 22, 2018 Mary departed our lives at 11:12am and left to cherish her memory four children Michael Savage, Janet Savage, Keith Savage, Donna Smith (Savage); five sisters Gwen, June, Janie, Bobbie, Oria, and four brothers Donell, Patrick, John and Lawrence, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death is her Mother, Father, Grandmother, Grandfather, one sister, one brother, and several aunts and uncles.
