JoAnn was born April 15, 1938 to Joseph Francis Quigley and Vida Sproul Quigley in Los Angeles and was later adopted by Cartwright “Spike” Hunter. Living in Southern California most of her life, JoAnn worked as a switchboard operator and as a bank teller. After her marriage to Wayne E. McConnell, Jr. on April 10, 1971, she became a homemaker. JoAnn is survived by her sister, Dr. Judy Rawles of Santa Barbara, CA, stepson Scott (Ulrike) McConnell of Elkhart, IN, stepdaughter Carol (Erik Hansen) McConnell of San Diego, CA, goddaughter Jennifer Dewhirst Skogen of Palm Desert, CA and godson James Dewhirst of Bakersfield, CA and many friends. In years past, JoAnn was a parishioner at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, CA where she also enjoyed listening to her father, Spike, practice with the choir. JoAnn was a loving and caring woman who made friends with everyone she met. She always remembered family and friends by sending greeting cards for every occasion. She loved getting together with family and friends to share a meal. JoAnn loved her tabby cat, Yum Yum, very much. JoAnn was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church on a date yet to be determined. For more information please contact St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church at (760) 346-2697. The interment will be at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery, San Jacinto, CA. Online condolences may be left with McWane Family Funeral Home in Hemet, CA: http://www.mcwanefamily.com/.
