Armand Garcia Obituary

Obituary written and submitted by the family Loved and respected by everyone he knew, Armand Garcia passed quietly from this life into the hands of his Lord, on November 21, 2017, at Christmas Cottage in Hemet, California. Armand was born on March 22, 1928 in Los Angeles, California and was the son of Miguel Angel Garcia and Enriqueta Bustamante. Armand attended Washington High School in Los Angeles and later joined the Navy Reserves where he served as Radar Operator and Instructor for four years. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Emma. He was very romantic, writing love letters and buying her flowers every chance he got. The couple cherished each other’s company and enjoyed dancing to Big Band music at the Hollywood Palladium and at Carnation Plaza at Disneyland. Armand and Emma were parents to three beautiful daughters, Roberta, Sheila, and Nancy; each of them now married. Grandpa Armand was blessed with four lovely grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart. Armand worked in the aerospace industry as a Sr. Technical Artist during the Apollo program and was very proud of the work he did and of his country’s achievements. He retired from aerospace after 17 years at Hughes Aircraft and then worked for Mike Thompson RV as a new vehicle owner advisor. He was an enthusiast of automobiles of all sorts and frequented car shows with friends. He could instantly identify make, model, and year of just about anything and had a ’65 Mustang that he cherished until the end. Armand attended 412 Church in San Jacinto along with Emma and also enjoyed their Seniors Fellowship on Wednesday mornings. He had a love for bicycle riding, which led him to accept the position of president of the Valley Bikeway Action League in Hemet for four years while Emma served as secretary. Watching football was another favorite pastime for Armand and he was a huge fan of the 49ers. Armand was full of energy and was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Armand was a funny, friendly, sociable, and wonderful man who was loved by many people. Armand will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and their husbands, four grandchildren; his younger brother Wil and wife Shirley; Emma’s sisters, Eloise and Irma, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Armand and Emma enjoyed 62 wonderful years together.
