Ralph Beverly Waugh Obituary

Born April 27, 1924, in Oklahoma and at the age of four he moved with his family to San Bernardino, Ca. Grandpa Ralph left us to be with family and friends on Wednesday December 27, 2017. Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife Jean, his brother Gordon, his father Gordon, his mother Ellen and his second wife Bonny. Ralph is survived by his children Janice J. Waugh of San Diego, California, Joseph Dixon (Sharon) of Quartz Hill, California, Wendy Robertson (Gary) of Kent, Washington, Ian Waugh (Dianna) of San Diego, California and his grandchildren.

In 1941, rather than being drafted, after the draft age was lowered to 18, Ralph joined the United States Navy where he learned to fly TBM Avengers. during his torpedo bomber training, Ensign Waugh was involved in one plane crash with minor injuries because his instructor was not able to clear a barn roof due to high winds. After WWII, Ralph studied chemical engineering at the University of California, dentistry at the University of Southern California and medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles. AS a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, he was elected twice as the chief of staff at the Antelope Valley Hospital. s Dr. Waugh refined his surgical skills he published and presented his findings for the benefit of all.

He finally found more time in the 1980's where he was able to be involved in local, state and federal politics to a certain extent. One year he was elected president of t he California Republican Assembly, a statewide volunteer organization. He felt that change was a constant of life, one to be expected; and if you wanted to make God laugh, tell him your plans.

He was stubborn, loving, willing to serve and loved to play chess, especially with grand kids. We will miss him, 'until we meet again'.
