Autry Mitchell Obituary

Brother Autry James Mitchell was born in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Moses Monzella and Fousteen Waldon Mitchell on May 20, 1941. He was the eldest son and second child of ten children. He was raised in a Christian home, he recently confessed Christ and was born again this Spring. He attended Cote Brilliante Elementary school and Sumner High school in St Louis, Missouri. He worked with his father in the Mitchell Metal and Polishing business. He loved and had a talent for playing baseball and had a desire to play for the St. Louis Cardinals. He courted and married Emma Davis in 1960. They had two beautiful daughters: Kim Marie Mitchell and Monique Lynette Mitchell. Autry lived to be 70 years old. He was a kind hearted person in nature. He loved living in Pasadena, California. When he was employed, he did good work with his hands. His love for his daughters Kim, Monique and grand-daughter Charon was evident to all that knew him. Autry was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Mitchell Johnson (Robert) of St Louis, Missouri and Karen Louise Brown (Freddie) of Pasadena, California. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Kim Marie Mitchell and Monique Lynette Mitchell of Sacramento, California; one grand-daughter, Charon DeShawn Ivan Mitchell; two sisters, Mary Joyce Mitchell (Herbert Curry) of Lithonia, Georgia and Zayed Tokunbo Newsom ( Wilburt Newsom) of Sacramento, California; five brothers, Vanery Reese Mitchell (Yvonne) of Pasadena, California, Carl Mitchell (Idella) of Fontana, California, Barry Kenard Mitchell (Gail) of Lithonia, Georgia, Leo Amarose Mitchell of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Michael Martin Mitchell (Mildred) of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Autry’s best friend, Linda Beardsley-Ifkheideh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. We , the family, will always remember Autry as a loving father, grandfather and friend. We thank each and everyone of you for joining us in this, his final celebration of life.
