Donna Jacobs Jul 15, 1930 - Aug 12, 2014 Rocklin, CA Donna Marie (Jackson) Jacobs (84), loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma died in Rocklin. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Arthur Max Jacobs, and children Andy, Tom, Jim, Julie (Trauth) and Rich. She was devoted to 13 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids, including 4th-generation Californians. Donna met Max on a New Year''s Eve blind date in Los Angeles. After a whirlwind courtship, twenty-year-old Donna boarded a train with a carefully-packed wedding dress bound for Mississippi to join Max, a handsome airman at Keesler Air Force Base. The couple married in a simple ceremony at the Biloxi Baptist Church –- a testament to their faith in God and enduring love. Max''s subsequent career entailed frequent moves. The growing family lived in Fullerton, Lafayette, San Jose, and Alamo, CA; Metairie, LA; St. Joseph, MO; Burr Ridge, IL; and Wilton, CT. Embracing each chaotic move as an optimistic adventure, Donna planted fruit trees, spring flowers and her riotous coral roses to make each new house their home. Her gardening legacy continues to bloom in backyards across America. While remembered for glorious gardens, she is treasured for her twinkling blue eyes and quick smile, decadent Apple Hill cake, and reliable weather forecasts, ever hopeful for just a bit more rain. A service Wed. Aug. 20 at 10:00 will honor Donna''s life at LifeHouse Church, 4800 Sierra College Blvd, Rocklin, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the LifeHouse Building Fund.
