Justin Hunckler

Justin Dale Hunckler, born December 6, 2000, went to be with our Lord in the early morning of October 22, 2019 in his sleep at his family home. Justin was a very special young man with an old, sweet soul. He excelled at playing sports, and basketball was truly his first love. Anyone that knows him knew that he was a very unselfish teammate and a mentor to many. In his 18 short years, his caring way and zest for life affected the hearts of many. Justin had a way of making everyone he met feel important and loved, including the young and old, those with special needs and those of diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. Justin was very excited about starting the next chapter in his life. After receiving an academic scholarship to University of Nevada, Reno, this past August, Justin and his longtime soulmate and girlfriend, Desiray Griffin, moved to Reno. They were both looking forward to sharing this journey together as they worked toward their mutual goals of career, marriage and many children. Family has always been a very important part of Justin’s life. His loving parents, David and Tracy, felt so blessed the day he was born and worked hard at instilling values into his life. Holidays, family vacations, trips to visit aunts, uncles and cousins that lived out of state were always joyful events. Justin and his twin brothers, Joshua and Jordan, have always been very close and involved in each other’s lives. The Hunckler home was always a place for the boys and their friends to gather and hang out. The laughter and stories they shared will be remembered in their hearts by all. Justin is survived by his loving and heartbroken parents Tracy (Rodgers) and David Hunckler. Brothers, Joshua and Jordan. Maternal Grandmother, Judy Rodgers. Loving Aunts and Uncles, Tom and Michelle Rodgers, Mary Hunckler, Sue Poole, Kirk and Cheryl Hunckler, Kay and Randy Swords, Adele Carlen, Madonna Hunckler, Carl and Debra Hunckler, Scott and Michelle Hunckler. Cousins Matt (Frances) and Tyler Rodgers and numerous cousins on the Hunckler side. Also survived by his loving “baby gooth” Desiray and all of her family, and Justin’s very special lifelong friend and companion, Crystal, his Labradoodle. Preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather Jimmy Rodgers, Paternal Grandparents, Kathleen and Carl Hunckler, and Maternal Great-Grandparents, Wayne and Katherine Ahlquist. A Celebration of Justin’s life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Bayside Adventure Church, 6401 Stanford Ranch Road in Roseville at 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow. Justin’s arrangements are being handled by the Chapel of the Valley in Roseville. The family requests that any donations be made in Justin’s memory to either the Counseling Center or Family Resource Centers at the Sacramento Children’s Home. Checks can be made out to “Sacramento Children’s Home” and mailed to 2750 Sutterville Road, Sacramento CA 95820. To make an online donation, visit www.kidshome.org/donate/.
