RAYMOND ARTHUR SCHIEK Obituary

In Loving memory of Raymond A. Schiek Born May 10, 1926 Passed away May 31, 2020 Final resting place beside his beloved wife; Because of the circumstances of the COVID 19 pandemic, visitation will be limited. The location and time will be announced soon. Graveside service will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, at 10AM on Wednesday, June 10. Attendance is limited to family due to the pandemic. Chapel of the Valley is handling the funeral arrangements. Raymond was born in Seymour, Connecticut to Henry and Tillie Schiek on May 10, 1926. He went to high school in Seymour. He was very proud of his enlistment in the Army Air Corps near the close of WWII. His service included stations in Japan and a tour in China. He went on to earn his degree from Southern California Bible College (which evolved into SCC then Vanguard University). There he met Mary Ellen Grisham who became his wife. Ray became an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God, and began his ministry as a pastor in Shelton, Connecticut. Living in Shelton, he also worked for Sikorsky Aircraft as a draftsman. The family eventually made their way to Wilmington, California. Raymond there began his lifelong career in Christian Education. He earned his Masters of Education at Pepperdine and served as teacher, principal and administrator for various Christian schools in California. Raymond earned the admiration of those he worked with and of those he taught. Many stayed in contact with him throughout the rest of his life. Raymond is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen and his daughter Joyce Elaine Reid. He is survived by his three sons, Walter, Donald and David. He has 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
