Thomas Gutierrez

Born on 12/26/1947 in Sacramento, CA and passed away on 4/6/13. Tom is survived by his wife of 20 years, Julia. He is also survived by siblings, Valentine(Margie), Cecilia(Enrique) and Grace(Barry); children Tami, Ryan, Adam and Steven along with 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom Served in the Army and did 2 tours in Vietnam where he earned 4 Purple Hearts. Upon returning home, he attended Notre Dame University and eventually achieved a PhD in Astro Physics. He loved to design and build commercial structures and custom homes. He also continued in the active Army Reserves and retired after more than 20 years of service. Tom was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. While fighting this battle, a Cancer diagnosis was rendered. He fought against these two diseases and eventually his body surrendered. Family and friends are invited to attend a vigil on 4/11/13 at 7 pm at Chapel of the Valley and a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clare Church on 4/12/13 at 10:30 am. There will be a private interment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Funeral Arrangements by Chapel of the Valley, Roseville.
