Xuân Truong San Diego, California Obituary

Xuân Truong

(1948-2015) Thank you all for being here today. It’s difficult because it reminds us all of our own mortality at the same time we grieve the loss of a wife, a mother, a grandma, and a friend. Mom was a very sweet, nice, friendly, and patient woman. She loved us, loved dad so much, and wanted to please everyone. She loved simple things and strange small knick knack collectibles such as beads, craft, buttons, dimes, and fabric from swap meets. Her hobby was sewing her own clothes, playing electronic slot machines, Sudoku puzzles, gardening, and reading a lot of books. She loved to have all of the family together at her home, enjoying all the noise and laughter of people. She especially loved to play Bingo because of the laughing and teasing that went on. We could all see the happiness reflected in her eyes. Mom was always a great broadcasting station with incorrect information or extra information that we often told her was like a CNN news cast, and she acted like she had wise knowledge from astrology to geography. And she always laughed after we told her that. She sometimes said things messed up, such as ”take a loaf of bread and put it the refrigerator to toast it” or “use the dish washer soap liquid to wash the rice before cooking in the rice pot”. To dad, mom was a great wife that devoted her life to him. She took care of him from the smallest detail. She was married to him for 46 years. They loved to travel, from long road trips in the US to international expeditions. There was always a new trip being planned. To her children, mom was a great mom that loved and cared for us all. She was our custom seamstress. She was the only one I knew who cooked in a 6 gallon pot because she wanted to have enough food for our parties and for us to go. She always worried and looked after us. Deep inside she was pleased that all her children were grown up and married. To her grandchildren, she loved them so much. Even though she said she would put a sign her front yard that said “No Child Care” yet she still babysat her grand-kids over and over again. She witnessed the births of 9 grandchildren, numerous graduations, untold birthdays, and many anniversaries. Mom left behind her dreams, her goals, her upcoming trips, her shopping lists, her husband, her children, and grandchildren. Even though Mom will no longer be with us we will carry her in our hearts and memories as we continue on with our lives. I ask that you do the same. Buddha bless my mom. May she rest in peace in heaven.
