Barbara Collinson Obituary

"Barbara Collinson born in Montreal, Canada, was the baby of four. She moved to Los Angeles, California in the late 1950s where she met her husband and started a family. After much consideration, the family moved to San Diego in the late 1960s and became a family of four. This is where she resided the entirety of her life. Some of her most often reflected upon memories were establishing Pop Warner and Little League in North San Diego County and organizing local Independence Day parades. Spending summers with her cousins at Lake Champlain was a fond childhood recollection. At one point, she strived to earn a vocational degree while maintaining her committed professional responsibilities in Trust Services at Northern, which she fulfilled through retirement. As Barbara gracefully aged, knowing she must stay busy, she pursued her passion of singing with help from the RB Chorale. Barbie was a loyal member of the VFW, Elk’s Club and Moose Lodge. Her hobbies included karaoke, traveling with friends, indulging in food along with lots of chatter and smiles. Her quest in life was to entertain and be entertained. Barbara is preceded by her pop Thomas Collinson, mum Alice Hawkins, brothers Thomas Collinson and Alan Collinson and her son Glen Popa. Her surviving family members are daughter Elaine, son in law Larry, granddaughter Megan, grandson Glen, brother Peter, and nieces and nephews. Donations can be made in Barbara’s honor to the RB Chorale (PO Box 227 Poway, CA 92074) and Veterans of Foreign War Post #3788 (7785 Othello Avenue San Diego, California 92111)."
