William Clarence Ritchey Surrounded by his family, Bill Ritchey peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 21, 2017, at the age of 79 years. He was born on June 29, 1938 in Moline, Illinois, and moved to Southern California when he was 5. He grew up with his brother Jack and cousins Delbert, Clifford, David, and Shirley. Bill graduated from El Monte High School and served in the US Navy on the USS Essex aircraft carrier for four years. He relocated to Woodland in 1975 and a year later he met Anna Tsourounaki while she was visiting her Greek relatives. They married on August 21, 1976. They moved to Newport, Oregon for 4 years, and then settled in Woodland California for the last 35 years. Bill worked as a machinist until he retired in 2003. Bill and Anna celebrated their 41st anniversary 2 months ago. Bill loved classic cars, dogs, camping, fishing, old western movies, country and western gospel, his country, God, and his family near and far. He is survived by his wife Anna; daughters Kari McCoy, Lori Ritchey, and Christina Rocha; 5 grandchildren, Tina, Brandon, Danielle, Cristiana, Jeff; 6 great-grandchildren, Logan, Gemma, Lexi, Delyla, Luciano, and Jax; nieces and nephews, Tami, Michalis, Angeliki, and great-nephews and nieces, George, Angel, and Penny, and his beloved dog, Rudy. Bill was preceded in death by his father Clarence, mother Hazel, and brother Jack. A viewing will be on Wednesday, October 25, from 5:30-7:30 at Calvary Baptist Church in Woodland, CA. A funeral and celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11:30am, on Thursday, October 26, at Calvary Baptist Church. Bill will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. After the burial, family and friends are welcome to an open house reception in his home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Calvary Baptist Church, or Good News Church in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (please designate and send through Calvary Baptist Church).
