Delores Mary Fankell of Broomfield passed away on September 10, 2017, she was 86. Del was born on Apri 26, 1931 in Sidney, Iowa to Wilbur and Victorian McCormick and attended St. Joe’s in Rapid City, South Dakota to become a nurse. She married Fred E. Fankell, Jr. on November 2, 1952 in Rapid City, and they had 61 beautiful years together. She devoted her time to raising her four children and was an avid bridge player. She achieved Grand Master in bridge which was something her and Fred enjoyed together. She was a devoted member of the Nativity of Our Lord Church and also loved golf and travelling with her husband and dear friends Jerry and LuWanna Russell.
She is survived by her children: Dave (Dianna) Fankell of Morrison and their 3 children Dana (Brad) Schmahl, Dustin and Derek (Alicia), Deborah (Clay) Rickers of Erie and their 3 sons Cole (Becky) , Ty (Kate) and Zach, Don (Tricia) Fankell of Broomfield and their 6 children Doug, Jacquie, Mandi (Keithl) Schneider, Joel, Brenna and Vicki and Denise (Ron) Holbrook of Broomfield and their 3 children Kyle, Sarah and Abby, and her four great grandchildren Taylor, Halle, Callan Schmahl and Evelyn Rickers. Del was preceded in death by both her parents, her brother Frank and her beloved husband Fred.
There will be a rosary at 9:45am followed by a service at 10:30am on Tuesday, September 19th at at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Broomfield, CO. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor in Denver.
