Donald Dean Maison was born on February 13, 1923 in Kansas City, Kansas and died February17, 2012. He grew up in Lyons, Kansas with his parents Leonard, and Alpha Maison. He shared his youthful life in Kansas with his brothers and sister: Leonard, Jr. Emagean, and Ruth. He married Nancy (Anderson) Maison in December, 1967.
Donald attended Denver University and graduated from DU with a Bachelor’s Degree. During his college experience, he played basketball with a basketball scholarship and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
During his work years and extensive work experience, he eventually retired from IBM in Colorado. In his work years, he had experience in the Wyoming Air National Guard where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. His military career started with flying B24’s for the 24th Air Force in Kunming, China. He liked to tell family and friends that he played basketball with Claire Chennault while in China. While in the Wyoming National Guard, he had flying experience into the Pacific while flying into Vietnam.
Don lived in Broomfield for over fifty years and raised his family, Donald Jr. Steve, and Mitch, in Broomfield. He was the proud grandparent to eight grandchildren and was enjoying the increase of his family with great-grandchildren. He was a golfer and tennis player as well as always following basketball.
