Janice R. Pignotti, of Broomfield, passed away February 11, 2012 at the age of 69. She was born on August 10, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska as the second of six children to Harold and Ruth Peterson. She attended Walnut Hill Grade School and graduated from Benson High School in 1960. She attended Omaha University. Janice married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Pignotti in 1963. Jan and Ron have three children, Angela, Debra and Matthew and grandchildren Aaron, Anna, Ryan and Mellea.
They started their lives together in Elmhurst, Illinois where she and a dear friend organized the children’s Sunday school program. In 1979 the family moved to Broomfield, Colorado. Jan led an adult spiritual study group in Boulder. This evolved into a home study group among women who attended the Broomfield Nativity of Our Lord Church. Subsequently, with gentle influence from the women, the husbands joined in, and a Marriage Encounter group was formed. It has been active for nearly 30 years.
Jan enjoyed the Colorado Mountains, watching her kids grow and nickel slots at the casinos. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, compassionate nature, and loving, calm presence.
Jan is survived by her beloved husband Ronald of 49 years, three children and four grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Peterson, Robert Peterson, Frank Peterson and two sisters, Deanna Peterson and Melinda Kelley; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
