Joe Lopez Born September 17, 1950 passed away March 20, 2012
Joe Lopez, 61, passed away March 20, 2012. Joe was born September 17, 1950 to Joe and Elsie Lopez in
Frederick, Oklahoma. He has a sister, Melva Shatto and Brother Clinton Bond. When Joe was a year old the family moved to Commerce City, Colorado. Joe attended Adams City High school where he was active in Drama Club. He graduated in 1968.
Joe served in the Air Force from 1969 through 1975 and was stationed in Viet Nam, Clovis New Mexico and Ent Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
He married Paula Cook on July 16th 1972 and daughter, Laura, was born June 1st 1984. They resided in Brighton. He is preceded in death by wife, Paula. While in Brighton Joe was President of Hi-Land Acres Water Board, active in his church and the community. His hobby was classic cars, hot rods and anything related to these cars. He has a hot rod truck named “Fat and Sassy” that he enjoyed showing at car shows.
Joe, in 2004, relocated to Mead, Colorado and began a life with Jeannie. He continued his hobby of classic cars and Hot Rods to include, 1991 Corvette, 1956 Chevrolet Belair, 1939 Ford Hot Rod and even a Harley motorcycle. Joe was president of the ColoRodans for a two years and an active member of the Club for several years. He loved attending car shows with or without his vehicles. He also loved his Jeep and took many mountain trips over breathtaking trails and roads.
Joe is survived by Jeannie, his wife, Laura Farmer, his daughter and son-in-law Chris Farmer, and Michael Geisler, his step-son. He is also survived by Clinton Bond (Sue) his brother and Melva Shatto (Norman) his sister residing in Baytown, Texas. He has two sister in laws Elaine and Ned Puev of Fort Collins, and John and Eileen Connolly of Brighton, brother in law Lee Cook of Florida, nieces, Ariel, Terry (Rick), Stephanie, Katie and Lindsey and nephews Kevin, Scott, Kelly, Michael, Mark, Sean and Brian.
He is preceded in death by Father Joe Lopez and mother, Elsie Lopez and first wife Paula Lopez.
Memorial service is scheduled for 9:00AM Monday, March 26th at Mead United Methodist Church in Mead at 545 Palmer Avenue and reception will be at 10:00 to Noon at Mead City Hall at 441 3rd street. Interment will be at Fort Logan Cemetery at 1:30pm
Joe will be truly missed by family, friends and those whose life he has touched.
